I fell in love with Maasai beaded jewelry and chokers while I was traveling in Kenya a few years ago.
It inspired me to create some chokers with a tribe I met in Lamu. Since you can’t get gold and silver beads in Lamu, I ended up collaborating with the women at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy through my friend Margie Springer. We just launched our collection of chokers on ARossGirl and I was so excited when I opened Porter magazine and saw the Song of Africa story by photographer Boo George and stylist Havana Laffitte. You know you are on the right track when you see it in print; the stylist’s ultimate validation so to speak.
