A Postcard From Zurs by Alison Ross Green (aka @LondonRossGirl)

I have been skiing in the Arlberg region with my family for the last 10 years, always staying in the same family run hotel. We absolutely love Zurs and the neighboring Lech.

Here are a few of our favorite alpine spots along with some helpful tips and tricks.

If skiing isn’t enough or you are wanting something different then I highly recommend the hour walk between Zurs and Lech. It is a favorite of mine and a real work out, with some steep inclines on the way back, excellent for helping you indulge in a little more fondue, kaiserschmarrn and wine.

One delicious restaurant is Gasthaus Alpele. Unfortunately, you can’t get there on just skies, it’s either a snowmobile or launglauf. It’s such a fun activity and the beautiful evening skies makes it so worthwhile.

Skies and Langlaufs can be rented at the Strolz near Hus nr 8, a great lunch spot in town that also serves delicious delicatessen style treats.

For lunch spots on the slopes, Skihutte Schneggarei is perfect for pizza and has a really great modern and spacious interior.

Two of my favourite hotels in the neighbouring Lech are The Post Hotel (pink) and the Schneider Hof which has great installations, owned by the Schneider family.zurs trip arg amanda ross

The Schneider family also own the Allemeinde Commongrounds, an independent culture initiative showcasing art to inspire a cultural community.

At the moment, they have a great exhibition of Walter Neidermayr works (Italian photographer), it’s open until the 17th of April 2017.
