Taos, in New Mexico, is one of my favorite towns. It’s quaint enough that you can see everything in a day.
Do (on your way into town)
On the road into town is Dennis Hopper’s beloved church Rancho de Taos Church, read this article in T Magazine on his life in Taos.
Little Apple, only open for lunch is the new lunch spot in Manzanita market on the plaza. It is the sister restaurant to Love Apple, which is only open for dinner. It has the chicest decor, it’s fun and they have delicious sandwich options. Go for the grilled cheese and try the Turmeric chocolate chip cookies.
While in town I had lunch with Author Cherie Burns, “Searching for Beauty” and her husband, along with a larger than life real cowboy who they call Big Al seen here at Chokola, the most incredible new chocolate shop behind Little Apple.

Be sure to stop by the Taos Pueblo Indian Reservation.
Also, stop by the Bohemian mecca of Mable Dodge Luhan, one of the earlier Northeastern renegades who settled in Taos. Also owned by Dennis Hopper in the 70’s. It now operates as a bed and breakfast.
